Inside:
Entering the it666, take a small step up to the right and a roomy dinette awaits with seating for 6 (4 with seatbelts) including the cab. The table has a swing-out extension for larger socials. This is the classic low profile forward seating layout which works well. What is different about it is that there is not as much headroom as usual (about 1.7m or 5’ 10”, thanks to the pull down bed above. Both dinette side windows have boxed trim around them, which narrows the area a little, but their function is to disguise the substantial bed raising and lowering mechanism.
The Burstner's bed has have been very well thought out. Released by a handle, it lowers with complete control and does not necessitate rearranging the dinette seating – all you need to do is ensure that the cab seats are either forward or swivelled. Once fully lowered, access is either via the ladder supplied, or by opening the lower kitchen drawer which has a substantial step built into it. I think most people will opt to use the ladder, as it’s a bit of a leap from the step. Once up top, the bed is roomy with good headroom and has the added benefit of feeling light and airy, thanks to the use of nets to the sides. You can still access the overcab window and blind from here, or make use of the pelmet area over the cab too – very handy.
The Ixeo kitchen is of the popular corner style and Burstner have tried hard to give plenty of storage and facilities. A sink and separate drainer, three burner hob, slide-out drawers, lockers above and below, opposite a decent size and height fridge with an oven/grill above and storage below, all go to make a pretty comprehensive package.
Towards the rear, the two bunks are neat with good mattresses, each having a pair of reading lights at one end and separate curtains. There are two wardrobes, the larger of them is at the rear, with the Truma heating system underneath it, thereby doubling up as an airing cupboard.
Above the second midships wardrobe, there is a TV cupboard with slide-out TV bracket. Mounted opposite the bunks, it can be swivelled for viewing from the front but it will be a long way away. Viewing from the bunks is really what it is intended for, however it can’t be viewed from the ‘head end’ due to the rear wardrobe.
The washroom should score well with prospective buyers, having the toilet right at the back with cupboard storage adjacent, with a generous floor area between it and the vanity sink near the entrance. In the central area, two wall to wall screens make up the shower enclosure, a very neat and quick set up. The vanity sink is a little lower than is typical for a motorhome of this type, which again should appeal to buyers with children to consider.
Summary:
The Burstner Ixeo it666 has a lot going for it – it is competent, good looking motorcaravan, has no wasted space and should appeal both to families and active couples. The pull-down bed is quick and feels solid. There is decent seating space, complete with heat exchanger for keeping the passengers warm on long journeys. Washroom facilities are generous considering the overall size of the motorhome and there are two wardrobes to boot. Compromises identified at first appraisal include limited headroom in the dinette and a lack of lighting in the central aisle area. If you are trying to find that all-rounder motorhome, the Ixeo might just fit the bill.
