Holdsworth Vista VW Conversion

Holdsworth Vista:
Superbly designed compact camper, based on T4 series of front engined, water cooled front wheel drive VW Transporter.  Holdsworth very successful brand through 70’s, 80’s, ceased production in the mid 90’s.  Generally wearing well and still commanding good prices.

1996 Holdsworth Vista Hightop camper has good level of equipment including cold water system, tip up vanity sink, Thetford toilet, 2 burner hob, fridge and heating.  Rear washroom area can be cordoned off with a solid screen for privacy.  Surprising amount of kitchen worktop space, helped by additional flap behind rear passenger seat.  Good sized seating area with side settee, forward facing rear passenger seat and swivel cab passenger seat (driver’s seat fixed).  Centre double bed fairly easy to make up with sliding bases.  Furniture coverings and soft insulation linings to walls and ceiling all of good quality.  Reasonable storage, including rear wardrobe, lockers over the cab; no space wasted.

Points to note:
These campers are getting on a bit now and can have high mileage (some will have been used as daily drivers) – not a problem so long as carefully maintained, including habitation area servicing in addition to vehicle servicing. Also get a HPI check. Look out for damage to high use areas such as sliding door entrance, kitchen cabinets and worktops, drivers area.  Outside, decals may have faded and peeled, fibreglass hightop moulding may be discoloured. VW paintwork fairly resilient.  Look for scuffs and damage to perimeter corners.  Not necessarily the right motorhome for a long term trips unless you are prepared to travel light and be cuddly.
